Former patient praises fantastic wig salon
University Hospital’s wig salon has received a donation from a former cancer patient. Sharon Leese, of Clermont Avenue, Hanford, presented staff with over £1,000. Sharon sadly lost her brother, Craig Fyles, recently. The money raised came from donations from his funeral and through a charity evening at the Michelin Sports and Leisure Centre in Trent Vale. At the event, family and friends enjoyed an evening of quizzes, disco and game.
Sharon was overcome with emotion when she saw the salon for the first time.
She said: “I can’t believe it’s finally here and ready after all the planning. It’s beautiful and it will make such a difference to patients. The team have done a fantastic job. It’s just lovely”.
Sharon’s mum, Lesley Fyles, said: “Sharon has done a fantastic job and I’m very proud of all she’s achieved. She is a brave person and is already thinking about her next fundraising adventure.”
Helen Francis, breast care nurse said: “It never ceases to amaze me how thankful patients are for the care they receive. The wig salon’s funds need constant topping up so that we are able to keep buying more wigs. Every donation is gratefully received”.
